A Celebration of Love at The Lillian Gardens Wedding Venue!

October 18, 2023

When you live in a state as beautiful as Georgia, it’s hard to resist a wedding full of Southern charm. Nestled into the quaint historic area of Newnan, just 30 minutes south of Atlanta, is the Lillian Gardens wedding venue, an estate with a rich history and a legacy of hosting stunning events. With a gorgeous mansion and award-winning gardens, a Lillian Gardens wedding is full of beauty, elegance, and, of course, charm.

About The Lillian Gardens Wedding Venue

Though it has been beautifully updated and is now equipped with many modern amenities, Lillian Gardens has over a century and a half of rich history. The Davis family built the antebellum house on the property in 1859. During the war, it served as a makeshift hospital for wounded soldiers. Around the turn of the century, the estate was sold to the Banks family. They added some of the venue’s most charming features, like the wrap-around porch, oak floors, and winding staircase.

Decades later, after being generationally passed through the Banks family, another Davis, Virginia, and her daughter, Martha Sue, purchased the home and opened a tearoom. “Something Special” became a cherished community landmark and a wonderful gathering space.

In 1996, the home was purchased and reopened as “Something Special Events,” a venue for weddings and other celebratory gatherings. In 2000, extensive renovations and restorations were made, adding valuable event space that fit the estate’s aesthetic. They also added stunning gardens, and the space was soon awarded for its beautiful restoration.

Current owners Ashley Keely-Bercich and Philip Kirby purchased the home in 2016, renaming it Lillian Gardens. They continued to host beautiful weddings and gatherings, eventually adding all-inclusive packages to take the stress out of wedding planning. In 2021, a strong tornado damaged many homes and structures in the town, including the Lillian Gardens wedding venue. Undeterred, Ashley and her team pivoted to hosting events under tents in the gardens while overseeing a massive reconstruction.

Today, Lillian Gardens is back up and running as a full-service wedding venue. Couples from all over choose to start the next chapter of their love story at this historic estate and leave with memories they’ll never forget.

Photography Opportunities

One of the best parts of having a Lillian Gardens wedding is the seemingly limitless photo ops around the property. We can wander the lush, beautiful gardens to find hidden nooks and corners decorated with flowers and tall grasses. Several beautiful fountains make beautiful photo features, including the charming gazebo.

We’ll also take photos on the wrap-around front porch and the front steps. Inside, we can use quaint parlors and other cozy spaces for intimate portraits with a unique vintage touch. Like your wedding, your album will be full of character and romance.
